Barpeta, September 25: In a tragic incident, three workers died due to suffocation in Barpeta district of lower Assam on Tuesday. According to reports, the workers entered the septic tank of an under-construction building in the night. The deceased have been identified as Asuruddin, Akmot Ali and Rofiqul Islam. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, Islam, who was a head mason, entered into the tank when he did not get a response from the other two workers. Robin Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Barpeta told the media house, “Three workers who were involved in cleaning the septic tank of an under-construction building died on Tuesday. The workers entered into the tank to clean bamboo and water collected inside. Personnel of National Disaster Response Force and fire brigade helped administration to recover the bodies of the workers. Later, authorities sent the three bodies for post-mortem. According to the report, the police have registered a case of unnatural death.
