New Delhi, November 2: The Delhi Patiala House Court on Friday granted bail to Ashish Pandey, son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Rakesh Pandey, who brandished a gun at a 5-star hotel. According to reports, the Court sources said that in the charge sheet, Pandey has been accused of intimidating a man and his woman friend with a pistol in his hand.
Ashish is currently in judicial custody, but if convicted, he may be awarded a maximum seven years jail term. On Thursday, Police had filed chargesheet against him. The Delhi police had also registered a case under the Arms Act and sections 323 (causing hurt), section 506 (criminal intimidation) 354 (using force with the intent to outrage the modesty of a woman). The accused hails from Lucknow and is the son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Rakesh Pandey. His brother, Ritesh Pandey, is an MLA in Uttar Pradesh. On October 14, a Pandey had allegedly brandished a pistol at guests of a five-star hotel threatening them in the foyer, a video of which went viral on the social media.
The Hyatt Regency in Delhi has also issued a statement talking about how safety is of prime importance and with regards to this particular case, they will cooperate with the Police and extend all possible help.
