Arvind Kejriwal Says AAP Is ‘Kangaal’, Seeks Donation to Contest 2019 Lok Sabha Elections

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged supporters, volunteers and people to donate funds to the party before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi, October 16: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged supporters, volunteers and people to donate funds to the party before 2019 Lok Sabha elections, saying that the party is Kangaal (bankrupt) and the government is cash rich. He made this statement while launching a nationwide crowdsourcing campaign 'Aap ka Daan Rashtra ka Nirmaan' at Talkatora stadium in Delhi.

Surrounded by party workers and hundreds of supporters, Delhi CM launched a mobile number 9871010101, which can be used by volunteers and supporters to donate money. “It is for the first time in history that a party is kangaal (bankrupt) and the government is cash-rich. That is because we run on your funds. We do not depend on money from corrupt millionaires,” Hindustan Times quoted Kejriwal as saying. The Delhi CM also added that there is an election in the coming year and "we have no money for the campaign." He urged volunteers to contribute at least Rs 100 per month.

Kejriwal pledged to donate Rs 10,000 every month from his salary. He also added that his wife, daughter will donate Rs 5,000 and his father will donate Rs 500 monthly. Meanwhile, AAP leader Sanjay Singh also pledged to donate Rs 21,000 per month.
