New Delhi, June 27: With days remaining for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present the Union Budget in the Parliament, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday met her. He claimed to have assured the Union government full co-operation and sought funds for Delhi's development.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Kejriwal said, as quoted by the news agency ANI, "I met FM Nirmala Sitharaman Ji and assured her our cooperation. We discussed issues relating to improving Delhi's economy, demanded grants from Centre to municipal bodies in Delhi and IGST of Rs 3000 Cr that is with Centre should be returned to Delhi." Along with this, the Aam Aadmi Party convenor spoke on the issue of Delhi Metro's pending projects and letting women ride free of cost. Kejriwal said, "Legally Delhi government doesn't need to send a proposal to Centre regarding free ride for women on Delhi Metro. Both Delhi Metro and Delhi govt ready to work on this proposal. Earlier, a tiff between AAP government and Centre erupted after a delay at the beginning of the work for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's project’s Phase 4 took place. Centre asked the Kejriwal government to let DMRC begin the work.
