New Delhi, August 24: The health condition of Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley further deteriorated on Friday, AIIMS sources said. Jaitley was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 9 after he complained of breathlessness and restlessness. Jaitley also underwent dialysis on Thursday. The 66-year-old senior BJP leader has been put on extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). A number of leaders visited the ailing minister at AIIMS in the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and top BJP leaders including President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited AIIMS on Friday and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati on Saturday. BJP national Vice President Uma Bharti visited the AIIMS to enquire about his health.

Earlier this month, senior doctors at the AIIMS had said that Jaitley's condition was "normal" and that he was "undergoing medical check-up". "Jaitley was admitted to the cardiology department of AIIMS for a medical check-up. He is being monitored by a team of endocrinologist, nephrologist and cardiologist," a senior doctor at AIIMS told IANS.
