New Delhi, August 10: The health condition of former Union Finance Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley is now stable, the Vice President Secretariat informed on Saturday morning. The latest update comes after Vice President Venkaiah Naidu visited Jaitley on Saturday morning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS). The 66-year-old is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. According to details by Vice President Secretariat, the doctors informed Naidu that Arun Jaitley is responding to the treatment and his condition is stable.
Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on Friday after he complained of uneasiness and weakness. Senior doctors at AIIMS later said that Jaitley's condition was "normal" and that he was "undergoing medical check-up". According to a report by IANS, a senior AIIMS doctor said that Jaitley was admitted to the cardiology department at 10 a.m. "for a medical check-up" and was being monitored by a team comprising an endocrinologist, a nephrologist and a cardiologist. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other top BJP leaders visited the hospital to inquire about his condition. The 66-year-old BJP leader has been unwell for a large part of the last two years. He also underwent a kidney transplant last year and visited the United States this February.
