Delhi, August 25: Former Union Finance Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Arun Jaitley began his final journey from the BJP headquarters in New Delhi to Nigam Bodh ghat on Sunday. Jaitley will be cremated with full state honours at 2:30 pm. His body was kept in the party headquarters this morning for people to pay their last respects. Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Harsh Vardhan, and Piyush Goyal, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and BJP working president JP Nadda were among those who paid homage to the former finance minister. Earlier today, many opposition leaders including Motilal Vohra, Sharad Pawar and N Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Arun Jaitley’s residence to pay their last respects. The BJP stalwart died on Saturday due to organ failure at the AIIMS in New Delhi. He died at the age of 66. He was admitted to the hospital, after he complained of uneasiness on August 9.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in a press release said that Arun Jaitley died at 12:07 p.m on Saturday. "It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Member of Parliament (MP) at 12:07 p.m. on Saturday," the statement read.
