New Delhi, August 6: The Indian High Commission in Pakistan on Tuesday asked the Pakistani authorities to tighten up security around its premises. The latest development comes a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah diluted the Article 370 of the Constitution which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Shah also announced that the Jammu and Kashmir will be split into two Union Territories- Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh without one. On Monday, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria was summoned by Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood over the abrogation of Article 370. According to reports, several organisations held protests outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, condemning the decision, Radio Pakistan had reported. Jammu and Kashmir no Longer a State.
Rejecting India's decision to scrap Article 370 and Article 35 A, Pakistan said that they would take up the issue with the delegation of US officials who will be visiting the country very soon. In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan "reaffirms its abiding commitment to the Kashmir cause and its political, diplomatic and moral support" to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Home Minister Amit Shah's speech on Article 370 in Parliament on Monday, saying it was "extensive and insightful". Modi shared a link of the Home Minister's speech, which is more than 45 minutes in duration, on YouTube from his official Twitter handle, urging upon his followers to hear the audio clip.
