On Monday, Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah announced that Article 370 has been revoked from Jammu and Kashmir. President Ram Nath Kovind's order 'The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order 2019', scrapping Article 35A has also come into effect.
What Is Article 370 and Article 35A?
Shah, in the Parliament, said that Jammu and Kashmir would be bifurcated into two union territories. The Jammu and Kashmir will be a Union Territory with Legislative assembly, similar to Delhi. While, Ladakh will be a UT without an assembly, like Chandigarh.
