New Delhi, August 5: After the historic move of Narendra Modi government to scrap Article 370 on Monday, August 5, additional 8,000 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) forces have been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. The troops have been airlifted via Indian Air Force's Boeing C-17 Globemaster III from different part's of the country. The security will be deployed at vital installations and sensitive areas as the issue of revoking special station is an emotional one. Mobile internet services were suspended across the Kashmir valley to maintain law and order. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday announced that Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, has been scrapped. President Ram Nath Kovind's order 'The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order 2019', revoking Article 35A, has also come into effect.

What Is Article 370 and Article 35A?

Jammu and Kashmir will also be bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. While J&K will be a union territory with a legislative assembly, Ladakh will be a UT without one.
