Further reprimanding Sharma, CJI Gogoi said he failed to understand the petition despite reading throughout its content. Although an official confirmation was awaited by the time this report was published, the plea was likely to be discarded by the top court. UNSC to Hold Closed-Door Meeting Today to Discuss Article 370 Abrogation in Jammu & Kashmir

"What is this petition? This is simply not maintainable. What kind of petition is this," CJI Gogoi asked Sharma. "I read your petition for half an hour but could not understand what is this petition about," he further added.

Update by ANI:

Notably, Sharma's petition seeking probe into the Rafale fighter jets deal was similarly discarded by the apex court, finding lack of merit in the same.

According to senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, who has filed several public interest litigations against the government, Sharma is known for moving "frivolous" PILs which get discarded by the apex court.

While Sharma was among the first to move the apex court after Article 370 abrogation, critics called him an "RSS stooge" whose aim is to file a dubious litigation on sensitive issues, which gets dismissed due to the "lack of merit.

Here's What Prashant Bhushan Had Tweeted:

"This fellow ML Sharma has been fined several times for filing bogus PILs. He challenged the Rafale contract and was happy with the dismissal of his petition. Didn't file any review petition for reversing the judgement," Bhushan had said.
