Army Jawan Martyred in Terror Attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam

Srinagar, Sep 17: An Army jawan was martyred in an attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday. The deceased soldier, identified as Mukhtar Ahmed, was shot dead by terrorists at his residence in Shurat village. The jawan was part of 162 Territorial army unit. Mukhtar Ahmed was at his home to mourn the death of his son when terrorists attacked him.
Jammu and Kashmir police and officials of the Indian Army were rushed to the spot to investigate the matter. Further details were awaited. On June 14 this year, militants abducted and murdered rifleman Aurangzeb Khan of Rashtriya Rifles when he was going to join his family in Mendhar area of Poonch district to celebrate Eid festival. Aurangzeb had taken part in many anti-militancy operations including the one in which a top militant commander, Sameer Tiger, was killed. Last year in May, a young Indian Army officer Lt. Ummer Fayyaz was abducted while he was attending a family wedding and later his bullet-ridden was found.
