New Delhi, August 13: Indian Army Chief General Bipin Singh Rawat on Tuesday said that he hopes for the same bonhomie that the forces had with Kashmiris in the 70s and 80s. In his address, Rawat said the security forces have been interacting 'normally' with Kashmiris like they used to before and that nothing has changed after the abrogation of the Article 370, that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. "The bonhomie we had with people in the 70s-80s, we want the same again. We were deployed there, and we used to meet without guns, and if everything goes well, we will again meet without guns", Rawat said.

Rawat's comments come just a day after Eid-al-Adha was celebrated peacefully across the state. In his address, Rawat referred to the peaceful situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the 1970s and 80s and said that he wishes that the atmosphere returns to normal soon. The Army Chief further added saying that everybody does precautionary deployment and people should not panic or get too concerned about it. He assured that the security forces are prepared for any kind of adverse actions by Pakistan.
