Aqua Line Metro Between Noida & Greater Noida Witnesses Around 11,625 Ridership on Day 1; Full Fledged Operation From January 28
The Noida-Greater Noida Metro which was opened on Saturday for public witnessed a total ridership of 11,625 passengers on its first day.
Noida, January 26: The Noida-Greater Noida Metro which was opened on Saturday for public witnessed a total ridership of 11,625 passengers on its first day. Meanwhile, officials are expecting a major increase in the number of passengers from Monday. The corridor also known as the Aqua Line was inaugurated yesterday by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. However, it was opened for public only on Republic Day. Today, the metro was available only from 10 am to 5 pm.
Noida Metro Rail Corporation’s (NMRC) Executive Director P D Upadhyay said, “Total ridership on the metro line stood at 11,625, with the highest number of passengers boarding from Pari Chowk and Depot Stations (also the terminus station at one end) in Greater Noida.” He further added that Overall 266 smart cards and 11,440 QR-coded paper tickets were purchased by the passengers on day one. According to the NMRC, the highest ridership was witnessed at Pari Chowk, Alpha, Depot, and Delta stations in Greater Noida, and Sectors 51, 137, 76, 101 and 50 stations. On the first day, a total sales of cards and tickets had reached Rs 4.43 lakh. There are 21 stations on 29.7-km Noida-Greater Noida metro corridor. The stretch was completed in record time in December 2018. The Aqua Line would run between Sector 71 station in Noida and the Depot Station in Greater Noida. Out of the 21 stations on the corridor - 15 of them are in Noida and six in Greater Noida.
