Aparajita Sarangi, Former IAS Officer Joins BJP
Former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi has formally joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday during a program held at the residence of BJP's national president Amit Shah in New Delhi.
New Delhi, November 27: Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Aparajita Sarangi has formally joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday during a program held at the residence of BJP's national president Amit Shah in New Delhi. According to the sources, many senior leaders including Odisha BJP unit chief Basant Panda and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were present at the event. Sarangi, the 1994- batch cadre IAS officer had opted for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) on September 15 which was accepted by the Odisha Government and approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 14. Sarangi, a native of Bihar is married to her 1994 batchmate Santosh Sarangi, who is currently serving as the joint secretary under the Union ministry of commerce. ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’ Only Political Stunt Says Bharatiya Janata Party.
The bureaucrat-turned-politician had become a popular face in the state for her bold measures as the Bhubaneswar Municipal corporation (BMC) Commissioner. She also worked as Director of Panchayati Raj Department, School and Mass Education Secretary, Textiles and Handloom Secretary along with the Higher Education Secretary.
