Anti-CAA Protests Turn Violent in Old Delhi, Protesters Torch Car in Daryaganj Area And Vandalise Public Property

Amid the protests against the CAA gained momentum on Friday, reports arrived that some of the protesters vandalised several vehicles and torched a car in Daryaganj area of national capital. Following this, police have detained several protesters and have deployed hundreds of its personnel in Old Delhi.

New Delhi, December 20: Amid the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act gained momentum on Friday, reports arrived that some of the protesters vandalised several vehicles and torched a car in Daryaganj area of national capital. Following this, police have detained several protesters and have deployed hundreds of its personnel to maintain the law and order situation.

According to the reports, as published by new agency ANI through its tweets, anti-CAA protesters turned violent and began vandalising several vehicles near the Daryaganj police station. With police coming into the scene, a car was set ablaze. Police soon took the action and have detained miscreants for damaging public property. Though the number of people detained is yet to be ascertained, protests at the site are going on. Delhi Metro Closes Entry and Exit Gates of 23 Stations Amid Anti-CAA Protests.

Apart from Daryaganj, protests are continuing in areas of Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Connaught Place, Seelampur, India Gate, Jafrabad, and nearby places. Police also took help of water canons to disperse the protesters in the Old Delhi region.

Following the continual of protests against the CAA, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation closed the gates of 23 Metro stations. Among the stations whose gates are closed include -- Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and Kashmere Gate. DMRC informed that the Metro trains will halt in all these stations, as advised by the Delhi Police.
