Kolkata, December 24: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar again faced protests on Tuesday where students blocked his convoy as he arrived at Jadavpur University for a convocation ceremony. According to a tweet by ANI, the angry protesters showed black flags, raised slogans against the Governor and surrounded his car as he reached the main gate of the campus. Taking to Twitter, the Governor said that in such situation, media needs to focus on public welfare as well and signal that student interests can’t be so put in jeopardy. He added saying that he was surprised at how the university administration was having such a bad system. The students are protesting against the governor's stand on the proposed nationwide NRC and the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA.

In a series of tweets, Dhankhar said he was at the University so that the students would get their degrees but the venue in the University was blocked, which he termed to be a worrisome situation. "At Jadavpur University so that the students may get their degrees and enjoy the fruits of their labour and contribute to society. Unfortunately the way to the venue in the University is blocked. Unwholesome. No affirmative role by concerned in sight. Worrisome situation", Dhankhar  tweeted.

Taking a dig at the varsity's Vice Chancellor (VC), the Governor said the VC is oblivious deliberately of his obligations and looking for alibis. He said that neither the VC nor anyone else from the University had informed him about the situation there but were giving bites to the Media rather than have dialogue with those engaged in obstruction. "The VC is presiding total collapse of rule of law. Ruinous state of affairs", he said in a tweet.  Dhankhar said that the number of those obstructing is only around fifty and the system is being held hostage", he tweeted.

"Those enjoined with the task are oblivious of their obligations. A collapse that can only lead to unwholesome consequences. Rule of law is no where in sight. As constitutional head concerned", he added. VC has informed the ADC that he is unable to have any way forward with those engaged in obstruction and all this without taking any initiative of dialogue with those engaged in obstruction.
