New Delhi, December 17: Ten people with criminal backgrounds have been arrested, in connection with December 15 Jamia Millia Islamia incident. No student has been arrested, according to an ANI update. Jamia students had maintained that they had no hand in the incident.

The incident took an ugly turn on Sunday, when Police had thrown teargas shells inside the campus, barged into the premises and dragged students out of the library before assaulting them.

Following this, there were protests, where buses and other vehicles in some parts of South Delhi were set on fire. Jamia Millia students' community, as well as the Teachers' Association, have disassociated themselves with the violence and arson that took place near the university on Sunday afternoon. Jamia Millia Islamia Violence: Situation Tense in the University, Many Students Decide to Leave for Home.

On Sunday evening, several students of Jamia Millia Islamia were injured as police entered their campus and lathi-charged them after protests against the CAA intensified in South Delhi.  Several policemen too sustained injuries while dispersing students and locals who were protesting against the new act.

In another incident, on the other hand, missing posters of Nitish Kumar were put up in Patna, to protest against Bihar chief minister over his silence on the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the promised nationwide NRC.
