Another Rape in Madhya Pradesh; 15-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped in Chattarpur District

Chattarpur, July 9: In yet another shocking incident of sexual assault against women, a 15-year-old girl allegedly has been gang-raped in Bijawar town of Madhya Pradesh’s Chattarpur district on July 8. The case has been registered against the accused who are currently absconding. The investigation is underway to arrest the accused.

This is the fifth rape incident in the state in the last two weeks. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Nandkumar Singh Chauhan blames internet and smartphone for increasing cases of sexual assault against women. Speaking at Damoh on July 6. Chauhan said, “Due to easy access to the Internet and smartphones, youngsters can see obscene content on phones. This results in a negative impact on innocent minds and leads to perversity.

Slamming Chauhan for his statement, state Congress spokesperson Manak Agrawal blamed state government for the increasing sexual assault cases against women. Congress workers even staged a protest at the residence of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

On June 26, an eight-year-old girl was gang-raped by two men in Mandsaur district. She was lured by offering sweets from outside her school and then raped her. Assuming her to be dead the accused dumped her in a vacant place. Both the accused had been arrested.
