Another Oliver Ridley Sea Turtle Rescued in Mumbai, This Time at Walkeshwar
The Olive Ridley Sea Turtle was given due medical treatment and was said to be kept in observation; after which he would be let off to the sea on the basis of improved health condition.
A week after an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle was rescued at Juhu Chowpatty, in Mumbai, the Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) activists have rescued another turtle of the same species, on July 12. A 28-year-old female Olive Ridley Sea Turtle was saved by the wildlife welfare organisation near Walkeshwar locality in Mumbai, in the wee hours of Thursday night.
Call it alertness of the residents of the Walkeshwar locality or the swiftness shown by the RAWW activists in the rescue operation; the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle was eventually saved after experiencing the stormy Mumbai weather, currently.
The RAWW activists who were present at the spot of rescue operation said that the turtle was crippled. It was informed that the Olive Ridley Turtle’s front flippers were missing while it was rescued. It is the second time in a week that the front limbs of a turtle were missing while an animal welfare rescue team retrieved it.

Last week, a turtle of the same species was rescued by another animal rescue team at Mumbai’s Juhu Chowpatty. It was because of the alert residents, who informed the local police, after spotting the turtle in their locality. It was said that the turtle was experiencing dehydration too.
