Vijayawada, July 11: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday inaugurated the 'Anna Canteen' at Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada which that serves meals for just Rs 5. The Anna canteen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at Rs.5 each.

The Anna Canteen would serve breakfast from 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m, lunch would be available from 12.30 p.m. to 3 p.m., while dinner would be available from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Anna canteens will be closed on Sundays.

According to reports, the breakfast plate menu includes 3 idlis/ 3 pooris/ upma/ pongal while the lunch and dinner plate comes with rice, dal/sambar, pickle, curry and curd.

A total of 203 canteens in 110 municipalities will be set up across the state. It must be noted that the state government has set up at least 60 canteens in the first phase. The rollout of Anna Canteens comes on the line of Amma Canteens in neighbouring state Tamil Nadu.

Reports inform that the Chief Minister will launch the rest of the 143 canteens in a total of 110 municipalities by the month of August. The Anna canteens were one of the election promises that was made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during the campaign back in 2014.

The canteens, equipped with world-class amenities, will serve delicious lunch and dinner at affordable rates to the common man. The canteens come with world-class features that include CCTV cameras, electronic token system and WiFi connectivity.
