Anil Parihar, BJP general secretary, and his brother Ajit Parihar were killed in Tappal Gali in Kishtwar district.
Srinagar, November 1: A general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his brother were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar on Thursday. Anil Parihar, BJP general secretary, and his brother Ajit Parihar were killed in Tapal Gali Mohalla of Kishtwar town.
Following the incident, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), prohibiting the assembly of more than four persons at public places was imposed in the area. Ajit Parihar was an employee of the state Financial Corporation. The attack comes in the wake of a spree of terror attacks in South Kashmir over the last few weeks.
"Anil and Ajit Parihar were shot and killed in Kishtwar town by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening. A manhunt has been launched to trace the assassins," a police officer told IANS.
