New Delhi, August 22: Reliance group chairman Anil Ambani today has sent a cease and desist notice to Congress National spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill for making any comment on Rafale deal involving the group. Reliance Group has also warned Shergill of legal consequences if he spreads any  "misinformation" against Reliance Defence. The notice also alleged that other Congress leaders including Randeep Surjewala, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ashok Chavan and Sanjay Nirupam had made defamatory statements on the deal.

The group has warned these congress leaders of taking the matter to court against them. Ambani has also accused the Congress of running a "vilification" campaign backed by its corporate rivals. Yesterday, the Reliance issued a press release in which it mentioned that last week, Ambani wrote a letter to the Congress President Rahul Gandhi stating that the party has been "misinformed, misdirected and misled" by malicious vested interests and corporate rivals on the offsets related to the Rafale fighter jet deal. In the letter, Ambani termed all the allegations against him as baseless.

Shergill in response to Ambani's notice said that the Congress is not afraid of such notice's. taking a dig at the central government, the Congres spokesperson said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  and its corporate friends would not be able to stop the party from asking questions over the deal.

However, the Congress recently appointed as the member of its team to attack BJP over the Rafael Deal. According to a report published in India Today, Reliance Defence has filed defamation suits against Surjewala, Chavan and others after the leaders failed to respond to the notices sent earlier. In the letter, Ambani claimed that Rafale fighter jets were not being manufactured by Reliance or the Dassault Reliance Joint Venture and all 36 planes are to be 100 percent manufactured in France and imported to India.

According to recent reports, Gandhi has constituted a six-member team to hold conferences nationwide over Rafale deal, for which a total of 50 Congress leaders are asked to hold press conferences in 100 cities across India in coming days.
