Mumbai, October 20: The high-end Angriya Cruise, set to sail from Mumbai to Goa from October 24, was inaugurated today by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, his wife and singer Amruta Fadnavis. The launch event was held at the Purple Gate of Princess Docks in Mumbai.
The launch was earlier scheduled for October 14. However, an adverse forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department, predicting thunderstorm in the Arabian Sea over the last 5 days, had forced the authorities to postpone the inauguration for October 20. The cruise has already completed its trial run in may this year, and was awaiting the end of Monsoon to be flagged off. The cruise, owned by Angriya Sea Eagle Private Limited, a subsidiary for Sea Eagle Cruises, will ply on regular basis. The bookings have already begun for the month of October and November. Since the cruise service providers target the creamy layer, the rates for the luxury Mumbai-Goa ride begin from Rs 7,000 (dorm room) per person and goes up to Rs 11,000 (family suite) per person. The fares include two meals, along with morning and evening snacks.
