Hyderabad, December 16: As many as three men were arrested in Andhra Pradesh for duping a man of Rs 15 lakhs on the pretext of getting a seat for his son in a medical college. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Krishna district of the southern state. As soon as the fraud came to light, police was alerted following which the arrests were made. Officials informed that further investigation is underway in the case.
Several such incidences of fraudsters duping people by promising them a seat in medical colleges have surfaced from different states. Earlier this week, a similar incident was reported from Odisha, where a man was arrested by the Crime Branch on charges of duping a medical college professor in Assam of Rs 69 lakh. The fraudster had promised the professor of helping his daughter get admission in a private medical college in Bhubaneswar. In September, another similar incident was reported from Pune where a businessman from Telangana was duped of Rs 54 lakh by a Kothrud-based man on the pretext of securing his son a seat in the medical colleges located in Pimpri and Udaipur between March 2016 and January 2019.
