Amaravati, September 20: Police in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district detained a man for reportedly murdering his mother after she refused to give him money to purchase liquor. Praneeth, a native of Kambaduru village, was addicted to many vices, including alcohol. After a furious argument with his mother Sujatha, the accused refused to give him money to buy alcohol.
Praneeth, who had left the house in a wrath, returned with three litres of petrol in a can. He poured fuel on his mother, who was asleep on a bed, and set her on fire. Sujatha died instantly from fire injuries. Police in Kalyandurg initiated a case and moved the deceased's body for post-mortem examination. Previously, a 45-year-old woman was murdered by her son in Siddipet district for allegedly failing to locate a suitable partner for his marriage. The incident occurred at the woman's house in Banda Mailaram village in the district.

According to police, the woman's son and another relative were detained in connection with the murder.

Earlier, in a horrifying incident from UP's Bareilly, a man reportedly murdered his mother because she objected to his having illicit connections with a woman in their family. The accused went on to plot the murder and frame one of his relatives. During his interrogation, the man confessed to killing his mother because she objected to him having a relationship with a related woman. Totaram murdered his mother in order to clear the path for him to continue his illegal connection. The accused has been jailed.
