In a horrific incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district, three schoolboys—aged 12 and 13—have been arrested for the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl. The police reported that the boys had watched porn videos on their phone and attempted to recreate the sex assault on the minor.

The horrific crime took place at a temple, where the accused boys lured the victim, a Class 3 student, and subjected her to a brutal assault. The school boys had attempted to recreate the assault by watching porn videos on the phone and their relatives dumped the victim's body into a river. This was done in an attempt to conceal the evidence and avoid detection. According to Nandyal Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana, the boys raped the victim and then strangled her to death. Nandyal SP Adhiraj Singh Rana stated that in fear of their children facing legal consequences, the accused's father and uncle transported the minor's body on a two-wheeler, tied it to a rock, and disposed of it into the river Krishna. Two of the accused, aged 12, are studying in Class 6 and the third boy, aged 13, is in Class 7.

According to PTI, the incident unfolded when the victim, who had gone to play with friends at a local park in Old Muchumurri on Sunday, did not return home by evening. Concerned, her parents filed a police complaint, prompting immediate action. Police swiftly registered the case and launched a search operation, deploying a dog squad to assist. Following leads from the dogs, authorities were led to the crime scene and identified several suspects associated with the accused through house raids.
The father and uncle have been arrested in connection with the case and are investigating their involvement in the crime. The accused boys were produced in court on Tuesday and are currently in custody.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha has announced that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sanctioned a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the minor girl.
