Eluru, September 18: Yet another case of assault on a woman doctor has come to light, this time at the Government General Hospital in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. On the night of September 15, a pregnant doctor was violently attacked in the emergency department. The assault occurred after an altercation involving injured individuals seeking a medico-legal case report. When the doctor explained that the report would only be available after necessary treatment, one of the accompanying individuals, Boddeti Mohan, assaulted her.
As reported by the Times of India, the disturbing incident began on the night of September 15, when a violent altercation erupted between two groups in Undrajavaram, Denduluru mandal, Eluru district. The injured individuals from this clash were rushed to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Eluru, seeking medical attention and a medico-legal case (MLC) report. The attending doctor, who was pregnant and on duty, informed them that the MLC report would be issued only after the completion of the necessary treatment, leading to frustration among those waiting. Enraged by the delay, Boddeti Mohan, who was accompanying the injured, became agitated and physically assaulted the doctor. The situation escalated when Mohan attacked her, causing a significant disturbance in the emergency department. Hospital security intervened swiftly to restrain Mohan and ensure the doctor’s safety, but he managed to flee the scene before authorities could detain him. Following the assault, the doctor filed a complaint with the II Town police station, but there were initial delays in action against Mohan. The hospital staff expressed their outrage over the perceived inaction and demanded prompt arrest of the assailant. Inspector YV Ramana confirmed that a case was registered immediately upon receiving the complaint but admitted that Mohan remains at large. Police teams are actively pursuing leads to apprehend him.
