New Delhi, September 13: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has received a complaint on Thursday from Vundavalli Sridevi, a gynaecologist and MLA from Tadikonda (Andhra Pradesh), after a group of people have made casteist and sexist remarks against her during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Ananthavuram village. NCW Chief Rekha Sharma Takes Note of Azam Khan's Below-the-belt Remarks Against Jaya Prada.
According to an ANI tweet, NCW has shown serious concern over discrimination based on gender and caste and registered case against unidentified people from Ananthavuram village. Commission has decided to take up the matter with police officials and sought a report from DGP Andhra Pradesh.

The NCW was set up as a statutory body in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, with a mandate to safeguard the Constitutional rights of women.
