Amaravati, July 31: In a bizarre turn of events, a man from Andhra Pradesh returned to his native village after four years, only to discover that he had been declared dead in official records. He left home in 2019 due to mental instability, and now that he has returned, the man, Anjaney Shetty, has approached the Mandal offices to cancel his death certificate and reinstate his identification documents, proving he is still alive. Further, he has filed a complaint with the Chittoor District Collector, bringing this strange incident to light.
Shetty is a native of Paimagham in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. He is declared dead by the authorities despite being alive. Shetty went missing in 2019, citing his mental issues. During his search, his family tragically found a body resembling his own. They performed the cremation and obtained a death certificate. His Adhaar Card was also cancelled by the administrative department, and his name was further removed from the ration card by the authorities. Four years after his disappearance, Anjaney Shetty returned to his native village, much to the joy of his family and the shock of his neighbours. A similar incident took place in Goa, where a dead man returned after being declared dead. Marcos Milagres, a resident of Agassaim near Panaji, Goa, went missing late last year. In October, his family identified a body found in Panaji as Milagres after a post-mortem at Goa Medical College. The body was cremated based on this identification. However, more than two months later, Mumbai police contacted Goa police about a man claiming to be Milagres. Upon investigation, the man was brought to the Agassaim police station and confirmed by his family as Milagre.
