Anantpur, August 17: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was shamed and thrashed in public by a village elder for eloping with her cousin. The incident took place in KP Doddi village in Andhra Pradesh's Anantpur district on Wednesday. A horrific video of the girl being beaten up with sticks has gone viral on social media. However, no arrest has been made as no one came forward to lodge a complaint, said police.

The girl, said to be a minor, had reportedly eloped with a cousin who is 20 years old. Villagers brought the couple back and presented them before the village elders. In the video, the boy is seen sitting on the ground with downcast eyes, while the minor is being questioned by the so-called village elder, 70-year-old Boya Linganna. One of her answers irks Linganna and he then starts beating her first with his bare hands and later with a stick. Rajasthan Horror: Pregnant Dalit Girl Gangraped, Boyfriend Commits Suicide After Failing to Save Her.

A woman constable was sent to check if the victim was willing to file a complaint.
