Andhra Pradesh Gets New State Emblem, Having ‘Dhamma Chakka’, the 'Wheel of Law’ for Official Use After 4 Years of State Bifurcation
The State Emblem is inspired by the Amaravati School of Art. The emblem consists of 'Dhamma Chakka', the 'Wheel of Law', embellished with a ring of triratnas alternating with pinnate leaves and precious stones.
Hyderabad, November 14: The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday finalised its new state emblem for official use. The new emblem has been finalised four years after the state bifurcation in 2014. The move now distinguished Andhra Pradesh itself from its newly formed neighbour Telangana. The State Emblem is inspired by the Amaravati School of Art. The emblem consists of 'Dhamma Chakka', the 'Wheel of Law', embellished with a ring of triratnas alternating with pinnate leaves and precious stones.
According to a government release, the size of the emblem should not be reduced to more than 24 mm in height. It must be noted that the announcement of the new symbols was made by the state department of environment, forest, science and technology on May 30, 2018. The move comes four years after unified Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into two states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in June, 2014. The government of Andhra Pradesh had earlier stated that it felt that it is necessary to have a separate set of symbols for the state of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation of the combined state.
In May this year, neem and blackbuck were declared as the state tree and animal respectively of Andhra Pradesh. The rose-ringed parakeet will be the state bird while jasmine the flower, Principal Secretary of Environment and Forests G Anantha Ramu said in an order today.
