Patna, July 23: Patna's Super 30 mentor and celebrated teacher  Anand Kumar, who became an inspiration for the masses thanks to the success of his Super 30 classes, which became a talking point in the country courtesy to the high rate of students qualifying in the prestigious IIT-JEE exams, now finds himself surrounded by a  controversy. Some of Anand Kumar's students claim that the Super 30 founder made false claims about the success rate of students at his coaching institute.

According to media reports, the students said that Super 30's and Anand Kumar's claim of 26 students qualifying out of 30 for the prestigious IITs through the IIT JEE entrance exam this year are not true. Anand Kumar also runs a school called Ramanujan School of Mathematics, which charges more fees than the Super 30. The Super 30 is a residential-coaching programme which reportedly caters to the economically weaker but academically brilliant students.

Anand Kumar is accused by the students of not only fudging the records about the number of candidates qualifying for the IITs but also of misleading students. One such case, is that of Suraj Kumar. Suraj, talking to India Today, said that he took coaching from an institute in Kota, but found himself projected by Super 30, as one of its students.

There are charges that meritorious students, who made a beeline for getting admission in the Super 30, were told to take admission in the Ramanujan School of Mathematics, which charges higher fees. Anand Kumar has not responded to the charges. A biopic is also being made on the life of Anand Kumar, where superstar Hrithik Roshan is essaying the role of the Super 30 founder. Anand Kumar had also appeared on the popular quiz show named Kaun Banega Crorepati.
