AN-32 Aircraft Crash: No Survivors Found At Crash Site, Says IAF
The AN-32 aircraft had disappeared from the radar after taking off on June 3 from the Jorhat airbase in Assam.
New Delhi, June 13: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday said it found no survivors at the crash site of the IAF AN-32 aircraft, according to reports. The development came a day after 15 mountaineers from IAF, Army and civilians landed near the crash site with all the equipment and started a massive operation.
"IAF search teams reached the AN-32 crash site today morning and did not find any survivors. The families of the 13 personnel have already been informed that there are no survivors," news agency ANI tweeted.
The AN-32 aircraft had disappeared from the radar after taking off on June 3 from the Jorhat airbase in Assam for the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh's Shi-Yomi district bordering China.
On Tuesday, the IAF had spotted the wreckage of the missing AN-32 aircraft 16 km north of Lipo, northeast of Tato, at an approximate elevation of 12,000 feet with the help of an IAF Mi-17 helicopter undertaking search in the expanded area.
