Surat, May 20: The Amul dairy has increased price of milk by Rs 2 per litre, said RS Sodhi, Managing Director of GCMMF ltd (AMUL). The new prices will come into effect from tomorrow. This development comes after the Anand Milk Union Limited increased milk procurement prices by Rs 10 on a kg of fat for buffalo milk and Rs 4.5 in the case of cow milk following a decline in production due to summer heat, said sources. The daily milk income of Amul dairy was around 30 lakh litres in the winter while it is reduced to 25 lakh litres in Summer. How Amul Milk Beverages are made:
Following a rise in summer heats, there is a drop in milk production while the price of cattle fodder has increased leading to the economic crisis for the cattlemen. The drought and heat across the key milk producing regions of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have led to a drop in milk procurement. The decline ranges from 20-50 per cent across these States.
