Amritsar Train Accident: PM Modi Approves Rs Two Lakh Compensation; Punjab Declares State Mourning Tomorrow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the compensation of Rs two lakhs for the family of the kin of the those deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in Amritsar train accident.
Amritsar, October 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the compensation of Rs two lakhs for the family of the kin of the those deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in Amritsar train accident. This comes after the fatal train accident in Amritsar which has claimed at least 60 lives. Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of decreased. The CM also announced free treatment to all the injured in the tragic accident.
“Rushing to Amritsar to personally supervise relief and rescue in a tragic rail accident on Dussehra in Amritsar. My government will give Rs 5 lakh to the kin of each deceased and free treatment to injured in government and private hospitals. "The train accident in Punjab in which over 50 people have died is shocking. I urge the state govt & Congress workers to provide immediate relief at the accident site. My condolences to the families of those who have died&pray that the injured make a speedy recovery," Rahul Gandhi said while reacting to the deadly accident.
The train was coming from Jalandhar to Amritsar and the incident occurred at Joda Phatak. Nearly 300 people were watching the Ravan Dahan at the ground near the tracks. State mourning has been declared in Punjab tomorrow, and all offices and educational institutions will remain closed, in the view of Amritsar train accident.
