Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each to the kin of three people killed in the blast. He has also directed the civic hospital to provide free treatment to those injured in the attack. The chief minister said, “My heart goes out to victims of the Amritsar bomb blast & their families. My govt will give Rs 5 lakh to kin of each of the dead and free treatment to injured. Have asked district administration to extend all help.” Home Minister Rajnath Singh called Captain Singh to inquire about the situation.
The three-member Team of the National Investigation Agency has also reached the spot. Earlier in the day, bike-borne attackers targeted the congregation attended by nearly 250 people. No terror organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack. The police also could not determine yet if the attackers were Islamist terrorists or militants linked to the Khalistan movement.
The blast comes days after former Hizbul Mujahideen commander and founder and chief of Al-Qaeda cell Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind Zakir Moosa was spotted in Amritsar. The state police also released the posters of the terrorist. Earlier in the Month, Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat also warned that external forces are trying to disrupt peace in the state.
