Amritsar, November 19: A day after a grenade blast in Amritsar claimed three lives, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the blast. The Chief Minister added saying that the information of the suspects can be provided at Police helpline - 181. Singh assured that the identity of the informers will be kept secret.
On Sunday, three people were killed and over 20 were injured when two motorcycle-borne men threw a grenade on a religious congregation on city outskirts. NIA team visited the blast site late last night along with their investigators and explosive experts. Reports inform that the blast occurred when few hundred people were gathered in a religious congregation at the Nirankari Bhawan in Rajasansi village. The Sant Nirankari Mission is a spiritual organisation and the Bhavan here is located close to the international airport and Indo-Pak border. The Punjab Chief Minister on Sunday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased and free treatment for those who got injured in the blast. The Police has been treating the incident as a 'terrorist act'.
The Chief Minister said that possibility of involvement of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Khalistani or Kashmiri terror groups cannot be ruled out. He said Police teams have been rushed to raid suspected hideouts of the assailants and multiple teams are investigating various angles to crack the case.
