Ladakh, August 13: After the historic move of revoking Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir which gave it special status, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Ladakh on August 17. During his visit, Shah, who is also Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, will inaugurate Aadi Mahotsav 2019, a National Tribal Festival, at Polo Ground in Leh, news agency ANI reported. The festival will be held from 17 August to 25 August 2019. Aadi Mahotsav is an effort of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED to scale up the livelihood and income-generating opportunity for tribals by allowing them to interact and sell their goods directly to the customers. Aadi Mahotsav 2019 in Leh:
According to reports, Shah on Independence Day, August 15 is likely to unfurl the Tricolour in Srinagar's Lal Chowk. This would be Home Minister's first visit after revoking Article 370 and bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sources, Shah's visit is expected but the dates cannot be shared with media due to security concerns. "It's a security concern. Amid escalating tension between the two countries (India-Pakistan), the Home Minister's visit cannot be revealed in advance," an officer told IANS.
