New Delhi, May 20: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah will host a dinner for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies on Tuesday, May 21, ahead of results for 2019 general elections on Thursday. The meet over dinner comes after the exit polls have predicted a comfortable win for the NDA. The exit polls carried out by multiple news and research agencies predicted over 300 of 543 seats for the BJP-led NDA. According to reports, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena chief Uddav Thackeray and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) head Ram Vilas Paswan are likely to attend the meeting, which is two days before the results. A meeting of key party leaders, including Union Ministers, is also scheduled to take place in the BJP headquarters before the dinner-cum-meet with allies. Exit polls telecast by major news channels predicted a comfortable win for BJP. While India Today-Axis has given 339 to 368 seats to BJP-led NDA, the ABP-CSDS gives NDA 267 seats, just 5 short of a majority. On the other hand, Republic-Jan Ki Baat gives NDA 305 seats. Polling was held in 542 seats as the Election Commission of India (ECI) had deferred the polls for Vellore due to allegations of the use of money to influence voters. Several leaders of BJP and its allies have asserted that the saffron party will get a majority on its own, repeating the miraculous feat it achieved in 2014 general elections by winning 282 seats.
