Lucknow, August 30: Threatened by locals of fixing him in a loan fraud case, a 24-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh recently. The deceased, a tea vendor, had won INR 3.55 lakh in an online lottery; however, his joy was short-lived when he ended his life on Wednesday, August 28, after being threatened by three people in Amethi.

Police officials said that the accused threatened the victim by naming him with fake loan threats unless he paid them INR 1 lakh. According to a report in the Times of India, the victim has been identified as Rakesh. Accused Seized Victim's Identity Cards and Mobile Phone

The alleged incident came to light after Rakesh's mother lodged an FIR against the accused - Anurag Jaiswal, Tufaan Singh, Vishal Singh, and Hansraj Maurya, on Thursday, August 29, for abetting her son's suicide. After the incident, cops said that the accused had seized the victim's Aadhaar card, PAN card, and mobile phone on the pretext of getting him INR 1.6 lakh TDS refunded.

Victim Threatened to Pay INR 1 Lakh

However, things turned ugly when Rakesh demanded his identity cards and mobile back. The accused allegedly assaulted him and even threatened to ruin his and his family's lives by promising to secure a huge loan in his name using his identity cards. Following the incident and threats, the tea vendor slipped into depression. On August 28, Rakesh allegedly died by suicide at his home in Amethi. Meanwhile, the police have booked the accused and launched a prove in connection with the incident.
