Washington, July 4: United States President Donald Trump wished the nation a "Happy Fourth of July" as all States in America celebrate the Independence Day today. In his single-line social media post, Trump quipped, "Our Country is doing GREAT! (sic)".

Trump followed up his tweet with a video message paying homage to the founding fathers of the United States. Trump said his administration would always remain committed to the ideals laid down by "General George Washington and his army of brave patriots".

"We are and will always be one people, one family, and one glorious nation under god. Happy Fourth of July and God bless America," Trump said in his concluding statement.

Activists in the US have called upon the Trump regime to recall the "inclusive values" reiterated by the preceding heads of States. Linda Sarsour of the Arab American Association said US under the incumbent President is "betraying" the idea of an ideal American State by taking immoral decisions. "The Islamophobic travel ban is one among those decisions," she said.

About 'July 4' or the American Independence Day

The day is celebrated with parades, firecrackers, barbeques and outdoor parties by the US populace to mark the 'Declaration of Independence' adopted on July 4, 1776.

On this day in 1776, thirteen states of the United States adopted the resolution effecting complete independence from the British Empire. The day is commemorated with an official holiday.
