Chennai, September 22: A civil engineer was arrested on Friday, September 20, in connection with the shocking murder of two children belonging to one of his workers. The incident reportedly stems from a financial dispute related to a loan. According to police sources, the civil engineer had lent money to the worker, but tensions escalated when the worker was unable to repay the debt. Yogaraj reported his children missing, leading police to review CCTV footage, identify and arrest.
According to a report by the Times of India, Vasanthakumar, the accused and Yogaraj's financial troubles began a few weeks ago when Vasanthakumar lent Rs 14,000 to Yogaraj, who worked under him. Initially, their relationship appeared cordial, with Vasanthakumar frequently visiting Yogaraj’s home and even taking his sons, 6-year-old Y. Yogith and 4-year-old Y. Yogaraj stated that he had handed over a sum of money to his wife, but she refuted this claim, which escalated into a heated argument. The tension between them grew so severe that his wife eventually left him and went to stay at her mother's house. The rift between the couple did not go unnoticed, and Vasanthakumar, deeply involved in their personal matters, held Yogaraj responsible for the separation. On Thursday, September 22, Vasanthakumar took the children to a secluded spot behind a temple, strangled them, and left their bodies. When the boys didn’t return, Yogaraj reported them missing. CCTV footage led police to Vasanthakumar, who later confessed to the murders as revenge against Yogaraj.
