Amazon Selling Toilet Seats With Golden Temple Picture, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Demands Withdrawal and Apology
The online merchant from their website removed the product, but there is no information whether they have apologised or not.
Chandigarh, December 20: Amazon is known to sell peculiar products ranging from cow dung cakes to goat dung fertilisers. But with Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh condemning the online sale of toilet seat by Philiphome Universal, with pictures of Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), Amazon is in trouble.
Expressing his anguish for hurting the religious sentiments of Sikh community worldwide, Singh took to Twitter and wrote, “Strongly condemn use of pictures of Sri Darbar Sahib with toilet seat by Philiphome Universal. Along with the apology, the Punjab CM also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the seat by the company. He added, “Demand immediate withdrawal of the seat by the company and an apology.” Soon after the tweet, the product was removed by the online merchant from their website, but there is no information whether they have apologised or not.
According to the Sikh community’s beliefs, Sri Darbar Sahib or the Golden Temple is considered as the holiest pilgrimage site of Sikhism. The temple is built around a man-made pool that was completed by Guru Ram Das in 1577.
