Srinagar, August 2: With the much-celebrated Amarnath Yatra in place and frequent disruptions becoming regular reports, Indian Army on Friday confirmed inputs that neighbour Pakistan is responsible for the disruptions. The Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon even warned Pakistan to stop such activities to disrupt peace in the Valley, as they would not be tolerated.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Dhillon stated that the Indian security forces have recovered mines and ammunition on the Amarnath route. He said, "In the last few days, we have got inputs about terror activities targeting the Amarnath yatra. We have carried out search operations to counter any possible attack." Adding more, he said, "The type of IEDs we are examining and the IED expert terrorists we are capturing and eliminating point to the fact that Pakistan is trying to disrupt peace in Kashmir. We assure 'awaam' of Kashmir that no one will be allowed to disrupt peace."
Also, Lt General Dhillon claimed that the Pakistani Army is involved in terrorism in Kashmir. Briefing more about that situation on the LoC, the senior Army officer said, "Situation on the LoC is under control and very much peaceful. Infiltration bids from Pakistan side are being successfully thwarted."
Along with addressing the security issues of LoC and Amarnath Yatra, Lt General Dhillon expressed his concerns on the stone pelters and the Valley youth who have taken guns. He said, "We have had an in-depth look at the terrorists who pick up guns. 83 percent of the boys who picked up guns are former stone pelters."
Apart from confirming the specific details about infringement in the Valley by Pakistan Army, Lt General Dhillon said, "An M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope was also recovered from a terror cache along Shri Amarnath ji route." Stating the minutes of the security situation in the Valley, even Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Zulfiqar Hasan, DG JK Police Singh and IGP Kashmir SP Pani confirmed Pakistan Army's involvement in disrupting the peace in Kashmir. However, they claimed that things are under control in Kashmir and any act of threat would be answered appropriately.
