Srinagar, July 20: A 120 mm shell was discovered and destroyed by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) troops on Amarnath Yatra route. It was discovered near Gagangir during sanitization of the area on Thursday evening. News agency ANI, tweeted images from the spot where the shell was discovered from.
The anti-sabotage check team of Indo-Tibetan Border Police- ITBP, recovered and destroyed one unexploded 120 mm shell on Amarnath Yatra route near Gagangeer, on Thursday. The shell was destroyed by army engineers earlier on Friday. The movement of pilgrims remained uninterrupted. Check out the tweet by news agency ANI, with pictures of the shell from the spot:

A batch of 1,753 pilgrims left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley on Friday to perform the Amarnath Yatra, police said, reported news agency IANS.
They left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in an escorted convoy as 601 pilgrims headed for Baltal base camp covering a 14 km trek, while 1,152 proceeded on 36 km trek towards Pahalgam.
Over 2,16,000 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at the holy cave shrine so far. The Amarnath Yatra this year began on June 28 and the 60-day long yatra will end on August 26 coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival. (With Agency Inputs)
