Jaipur, Sep 7: The Rajasthan police on Friday said the death of Rakbar Khan in Alwar by suspected cow vigilantes was not a case of mob lynching as they filed a chargesheet in the case, reported NDTV. The police charged three people with the murder of Rakbar Khan who was beaten to death on suspicion of being a cow smuggler. The chargesheet does not name any police officer.

The police named Paramjit, Dharmender and Naresh as main accused. One of the accused is yet to be arrested. According to the police, an investigation is pending against two others, especially against Naval Kishore, a cow vigilante who informed the police about the incident. A judicial magistrate is also probing the police's role after it emerged that there was a delay in sending Khan to the hospital. Alwar Mob Lynching Case: Supreme Court Seeks Explanation from Rajasthan Government Over Pehlu Khan's Death.

Khan, a resident of Haryana and his friend Aslam, were transporting two cows to Kolgaon through a forest area when the mob had attacked them apprehending that they were taking the animals for slaughter. While Aslam managed to survive as he hid in the fields, the crowd killed Rakbar.

According to media reports, the Alwar police took three hours to take the victim to a hospital which was only six kilometres away. The cops allegedly made a halt on the way to the hospital to drop the cows at a shelter. The high-level team, which has been probing the role of police in the Alwar lynching case, had earlier said that there was an error in judging what was necessary at that particular time.

Soon after it was revealed that the police made a delay in bringing Khan to the hospital, an Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended, and three constables were sent to district lines.
