Aligarh, December 22: In a notice issued by the "Office of the Students" dated December 22, Aligarh Muslim University students 'expelled' the incumbent university vice-chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor and Registrar S Abdul Hamid. In the notice issued, it is claimed that the teaching faculty and the non-teaching staff of the university has also supported the decision.The student body is reportedly miffed with vice-chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor and Registrar S Abdul Hamid for allegedly "turning a blind eye" when violence took place against the students of AMU, who had gathered to protest the police action against students of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in Delhi who were agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, last Sunday. The students asked the vice-chancellor and the registrar to vacate the lodge till January 5, 2020. The letter warned that failing to meet the demands of students would result into the "students, teaching staff and the non-teaching staff" boycotting the university administration. The students also warned of complete University shutdown until the vice-chancellor and the registrar vacate their post. "No activity shall take place in the campus until they have left the campus," read the notice. AMU Students alleged that they wer targetted by police when they protested against the alleged cop brutality in Jamia Millia Islamia University. The students said that the police crackdown was violent and that several students sustained injuries. The injured students have been admitted in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) in Aligarh.
