Akash Vijayvargiya, Who Hit Official With Cricket Bat, Gets Notice From BJP

BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya, who thrashed a Municipal Corporation Officer last week in Indore, has been issued a show-cause notice on Thursday by Bharatiya Janata Party's disciplinary committee. This development comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the first-time legislator's move.

Indore, July 4: BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya, who thrashed a Municipal Corporation Officer last week in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, has been issued a show-cause notice on Thursday by Bharatiya Janata Party's disciplinary committee. This development comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the first-time legislator's move and said that action should be taken. PM Modi said that such people should be expelled from the party without exception, "no matter whose son". He also frowned the huge welcome Akash received after getting bail. “What valour did the person in the video [Akash Vijayvargia] show to deserve such a great welcome from party workers?” PM Modi said at a meeting of BJP's MPs. On June 26, In a video, which went viral, Akash, son of BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, and his supporters were seen chasing and thrashing a civic body official in Indore with a cricket bat in the presence of media and police officials. The first time MLA was arrested and got bail from a special court in Bhopal.

The civic official, who was beaten, was a part of the anti-encroachment drive. After the assault, Akash told media, "In the BJP, we've been taught, pehle aavedan, phir nivedan aur phir danadan (first request and then attack)." Akash was unapologetic and hinted such incidents could also happen in future if provoked.
