Delhi, December 19: Indian National Congress senior leader Ajay Maken on Thursday said that his son, daughter and wife have been detained by the Delhi Police. Massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are held across the nation today despite prohibitory orders. "Saahil, the 18yr old boy, who was dragged by the Police and put in a Bus, at Mandi House-while you were talking to him- is my son. My wife and daughter also who were with him were also forcefully put in the Bus-and are detained at Mandir Marg Police Station!," the Congress leader said in a tweet tagging a journalist. The Journalist replying to Maken said, "I told the cop that the 18 year old boy is here with his mom & sister & on live with me. Even then the cop brutally held him from his collar & dragged him, NEEDLESLY! Am stating it on record that neither your son, wife or daughter provoke cops or said anything unparliamentary!"

Responding to the development, Arvinder Singh Lovely said, "Shri Ajay Maken’s son arrested along with hundreds of students. All these youngsters are the future of our Country. They are not from any political party. Shame on the Government for not allowing its young citizens to protest peacefully on 150th Anniversary of Bapu."

A large number of protesters have come out in Delhi and other parts of the country to oppose the Citizenship law despite the imposition of Section 144. Cops have detained many protesters in Bengaluru's Town Hall including Historian and author Ramchandra Guha. In Delhi too, several demonstrators have been detained including Swaraj India's Yogendra Yadav. The multiple protests in the national capital has badly affected commuters as 18 metro stations are shut.
